About Robinson Cook
Originally from Ontario, Robinson Cook has made Clayoquot Sound his home for last 25 years. Adopted into the family of Qwayaciiq (Hutch) Sam of Ahousaht, he is deeply inspired by the natural forms of the trees in the rainforest, the flow of the water in the environment, and the representative art of the N.W. coast Frst Nations style. His mentors include Jan Janzen, Helmar Hajek, Henry Nola, Lloyd House, Bob Schantz, Qwaya Sam and Gordon Dick. For 5 years Robinson has been teaching carving workshops at the festival.
For the last 20 years Robinson has been living on the islands in Clayoquot Sound with the aquatic lifestyle of ‘chop wood, carry water’. A way of life he now shares with his partner Mary and daughter Cedar.
