About this event

The EDGE Art Exhibit is an annual showcase of carved and weaved works from all corners of our art community. Discover the relationship between the carver, the weaver and the coast as you explore the vast variety of art styles from traditional to contemporary, innovative to whimsical, and a variety of art levels. This year’s theme, mułmunčʔałuk, Taking Care of the Roots, will explore the importance of the passing on of knowledge, through family, friends, peers and culture.

The Shore Pier will host an expanded Edge Art Exhibit and will be open everyday of the festival from 10am to 7pm. This year’s exhibit will feature the "Through Our Eyes" Youth Photography project, and Artist-Led Tours through the gallery on Saturday, September 10, and Sunday, September 11.

On Saturday evening, September 10, we will have a featured artist talk with professional Haida root weaver Isabel Rorick as well as a discussion between Joe Martin and director Steven Davies about the film, ƛaʔuukʷiatḥ Dugout Canoe Film.

The Exhibit Opening will feature special performances by the local Tla-o-qui-aht Women Dancers, and youth singers from the Wickaninnish Community School led by Elder Grace George.

The Edge Exhibit will be open every day of the festival from 10am to 7pm and will feature the "Through Our Eyes" Youth Photography project. Saturday, September 10, 2022 and Sunday, September 11, 2022 will feature artist-guided tours through the gallery and there will be artist talks on Saturday evening, September 10, 2022.
