Robin introduces the theme of the festival, Taking Care of Our Roots – mułmunčʔałuk and what the title means to him. Robin and Isabel, speak about the connection between carving and weaving. And working together as mother and son to create artworks.

Featured Artist Talks (Part 1) Phil Gray + Ernest Swanson

Artists introduce themselves, their carving style and touch base on professional or personal relationships that have had a significant impact on their artistic practice. 

Phil Gray (Tsimshian and Mikisew Cree), and Ernest Swanson (Haida) speak about their partnerships, mentee and mentor opportunities.

12:30pm-2pm

Shared Lunch + Festival Overview
1) Christine & Ivy provide detailed information about the festival for participating artists.

2) Eli Enns shares the history and future of the Naa’Waya’Sum Coastal Indigenious Gardens.

2pm-3pm

Featured Artist Talks (Part 2) Rick (Xwa'lack'tun) Harry & James Harry

Rick Harry and his son James Harry (Squamish Nation and Kwakwakw'wakw) will have a conversation about the passing on of knowledge from father to son. And Rick Harry will also speak about the mentorship House Post project at Emily Carr University of Art + Design.
